Back to DisneyWorld.

Back to DisneyWorld: Part II

Disneyworld: The Second Trip

Yes, we wanted to go back and we did. I guess we could have gone back in five years, but we waited a scant eight weeks.

The façade of Disneyworld crumbled a tiny bit. After our initial love of all things Disneyworldish we noted the following odd points, some good and some bad.

1: Some of the ducks around the Boardwalk area near the Dolphin and Swan resort are not quacking back as you stroll past them. We thought it’s because there are numerous signs posted telling guests not to feed them. Now we simply think the ducks are being rude.

2: We saw a woodchip out of place on the sidewalk leading from the Dolphin Resort to Disney Hollywood Studios. The staff is slipping.

3: The food really is terrible in the parks themselves. I said this before but, I thought we’d give it another try. NOPE. Don’t eat in the park.

4: The Animal Kingdom was a bust for us. It’s not that we don’t like animals… we just think the whole place didn’t have the magic the rest of the parks have. I don’t mean to be mean or disrespectful here. The place does have a true vision and design. We simply don’t like the jungle. It was also 95 degrees with 95 percent humidity. Just like sections of Africa. And it smelled like elephant dung… ick.

The Everest Roller Coaster area is amazing in the detail but not being rollercoaster fanatics we skipped the certain death we would have faced on this terrifying ride.

We stayed about two hours, look at each other and agreed to get out of there. We returned to the Hollywood Jungle of Sunset Strip over at Disney Studios and rode Toy Story Mania three times.

5: We looked up online if this was going to be a slow week in Disneyworld and sure enough it said it was going to be. It wasn’t! There were mobs of crazy mouse eared people all over the place. Awful. The fattest of America seemed to find its way to stand and block our way at every turn.

6: We rode Winnie-the-Pooh, for some insane reason, I think… well… I lost count at 5 times but I’m guessing we rode it about 8. It was a bit jerky (it broke down during one of our runs) but they seemed to have fixed that on our last day. We were surprised that there were more people on Peter Pan. I guess the kids love to fly over London. Wait… even though we did see kids there, I noticed that at least 75 percent of the people on line were my age.

7: Parents with strollers are INSANELY idiotic. They move like General Patton during the Battle of the Bulge. The knock, they bully, they roll over you at every turn and never apologize, whatsoever! Amazing.

8: There was this group of morons running around playing some game of the Great Race. They had papers, and cool tee shirts and the all looked like dorks racing through the park on some sort of scavenger hunt.

9: DO NOT eat the pizza on the Boardwalk without covering your food. A large bird grabbed a piece of pizza out of Maria’s hand. She said she felt like Tippi Hedren.

10: We saw garbage floating in the Small World ride. Not good Disney. NOT good. Get in there and clean out the junk.

11: The Hollywood Movie ride needs better actors. Disney needs to clean this up. It’s not a bad ride but the tour guides suck.

12: We bumped into Darth Vader. He looked pretty scary.

13: We liked all of Disneyworld but nothing, for us, beats the Magic Kingdom.

14: HOWEVER, the Flower and Garden show at Epcot was very pretty.

15: We did not have a Turkey leg … it looked gross.. but, we asked a few people if they liked theirs and they all said it was delicious. Next time, maybe.

16: Epcot World Tour is not made for a rainy day. It was HORRIBLE to see people, who spend all this money to be there and… it rains. I mean RAIN! Torrents from the sky. Drenched people. Kids soaked head to toe. In truth it didn’t deter them from getting around. Disney folks are very determined.

17: Those little Vinylmation figures were better when they had the original Mickey shape and those who collect these silly little things know what I’m talking about. Disney, wake up and return to the original shape.

18: I got a haircut on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom. My mistake. Wait. It wasn’t all that bad. Everyone says I look better but, the barbers there know how to do two haircuts: A trim for kids and a little boy haircut. I told her to layer it and I don’t think she knew what I meant. She just buzz cut my hair off with a trimmer. She hardly used scissors. Buyer beware. On a good note it’s really cool to walk around and tell people you got your hair cut on Main Street in Disneyworld.

19: I think the Carousel of Progress has the same seats it had in 1964.

20: My feet still hurt from all the walking. Bring good shoes, maybe try a pair SAS shoes. They worked for me.

21: You don’t need to stay at the Grand Floridian to hang out in the lobby of one very beautiful hotel. We listened to the band play… they are there every night.

Well that about sums up another trip to Disneyworld. We really loved all of it. We smiled every minute… well almost every minute. I didn’t smile when I saw my haircut, but I made the best of it.

I saw this Walt Disney quote while wandering around the Magic Kingdom:

The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.”
Walt Disney

Words to live by.
