Ruminations on the business of art and illustration and anything else I feel like talking about. And sometimes I review movies, very briefly.
I had the privilege of seeing the show with great seats thanks to my best friend..I also was given a book of sketches for Christmas that I treasure..priceless !Great sketches..they really capture the show! What a great memory!
I saw the original show in 1980 at the Sports Arena. As a young man who had just come to California from a small town in Montana, the opportunity to actually see Pink Floyd was something that I never would have dreamed possible for myself. I still hold that show to be the best I have ever seen, and to a certain extent that makes me hesitant to see it again. I think I'm afraid it will not live up to my memories of the original. It was so perfect to me at the time. I remember that after show on the way home, Joe Benson (I believe) was playing the entire Wall album on KLOS radio's The Seventh Day show, so we got to sort of re-live the entire experience in the car on the way home. It was truly magical.Of course, I still have the original program for the concert, which is very nice. Your sketches remind me somewhat of Gerald Scarfe's work in that program and on the album cover itself. I like them a lot, perhaps as much or more so than his original work. Thank you for sharing them.
gary it's not the same show.. Gilmore is not there but the band is great and waters is terrific adn all the puppets are there so the show is stunning. .. but the tickets are expensive.
